Website Research

Before creating my own website, I decided to get inspiration from others. I found some attractive sites that helped me build my personal page.

Audrey Hu, that was the first website that caught my attention.
She is a fashion stylist based in Shanghai. She worked as a Fashion E Editor at Numero China and Modern Weekly China. Still, she decided to become a freelancer and contributed to T Magazine China, i-D China and recently i-D UK.
Her home page is clear and straightforward, with some photo that she made in the centre. You can see her work by clicking the menu. Hui doesn't have about page, but she included all the information on her contact page. However, I think it is a quite hard following, and her writing is not very informative. I like the layout of the images she made.

The other fashion website that I really like is SHOWstudio.
Stephen Doherty practices many fields of art and fashion, such as drawing, painting and graphic design. It is distinguished by clear lines that give a specific and recognisable style.
Stephen is the regular visitor in Central Saint Martins and a contributor to SHOWstudio and 10Magazine.

The website is very transparent and easy to use. Each work has a description, i.e. name and style. There is also an online store on the left side where you can buy and image or art.
You can also follow him on Instagram and be up to date. The Instagram reference is also on the home page.
Maybe it is not a lot of information on his site, but I think that I found everything that I need.
I think that I will be inspired by these two people to create my own website, which will also be transparent and easy to use.

Website Creation

I create my website in Wix. I start by changing my background, which is very clear and easy to use.

I put an image on my background, which is nature and pastels colours. I click on the left side on Page Background and then Choose Image.

I change the references. I put the year, name and surname, name of the program and date.

I start writing something about myself, which is not easy.

Once again, I changed the coloured background and my gallery.
I deleted a few columns which I don't need it.
I live only three like bra, knickers and body because I am gonna focus on them.
At the moment, this is everything that I have, but work is in progress.

Project Research

I would like to show you lingerie that caught my attention.
Dollhouse Lingerie is a company based in Poland. It's soft, comfortable and 100% handmade. Products made by this company are of the highest quality materials which makes lingerie unique and special.
Girl's underwear, sprinkled with brocade, finished with embroidered flowers have so much charm and fantasy. Decorative straps and body made a fantastic impression on me.
She designs each product according to own customer measurements which guarantees excellent quality and comfort in wearing.

 Dollhouse Set                                                     Dollhouse Body

My Second inspiration is Le Petit Trou..." made for women who want to feel feminine, fashionable and comfortable in their own skin each day. The name of the brand refers to characteristic cuts in the lingerie. The lingerie itself stands out because of the use of the finest French and Italian materials as well as its design. All of the products are designed in such a way to stimulate the senses and body. Made with pleasure in mind; sexy, but not in an obvious way."
(Le Petit Trou 2019)
I am delighted with the collection because it is getting better every season.

 Le Petit Trou Body

The designers I presented have a similar style so I would like to create a related collection which would contain more colours. I love black, but I am also a big fan of colourful underwear that I haven't found here. I hope that in the future I will be able to show off my own lingerie and be successful like Dollhouse Lingerie or Le Petit Trou.

Major Project: Signed off

Hi everyone,

To start the project I will need to make a signed off of the project that I will make for this period.
The approval form will explain what technique I will use and what artist and designers I will have research on which I discussed with my tutor.
If you want to see my project signed off form just click the link Major Project approval form

I have been inspired by Dollhouse Lingerie, Le Petit Trou and Viktorija Rudenia. The artist has a lot in common, for instance, black colour and elegant.
They pay attention to details and esthetics like decorate straps, fabric which is polyamide and elastane witch expressing and displaying a feminine beauty.
Victorija Rudenia's surprised me with upside-down heart pattern and its provocative design.
I was inspired by these designers by the shape, fabric and also a range of colour they used. I will add more colours to my collection in order to express myself creatively.

Final Advert: Reflection

This is my final advert. Are you still hungry for apps?
#LOG_OFF_FOR_FOOD - you can do it!
Start by using your phone less. There is lots of apps for that.

The BreakFree app, for instance monitors your phone usage, tallying up the number of times you unlock screen, how many hours you spend on your phone, which apps you use the most. The app then gives you a daily addiction score. If your addiction score isn’t motivation enough to make you think twice before using your phone, the app also allows you to set up notifications to alert you when you’ve been on your phone for an extended period of time or opened an app too many times.

PLEASE! Don't sleep with your phone just give yourself a nice rest and if you need to set up an alarm it's gonna be better if you buy a cheap alarm clock.

Put yourself on a diet. When you want to lose weight, you have to stop eating junk food. When you want to cut back on smartphone use, you have to stop using the junk apps.

Turn your phone off for a couple hours every day at work or school so you can work without distractions. Leave your phone in the other room in the evenings to spend more time with your partner or family.

If you are open to trying something more extreme, Daniel Sieberg, author of The Digital Diet: The 4-Step Plan to Break Your Tech Addiction and Regain Balance in Your Life, suggests doing a full “digital detox,” where you spend an entire weekend with ZERO access to technology.

As you can see "DETOX" is not easy however, you’re never alone on this journey. During "rehab", you will build strong relationships with others in "recovery" who can relate to what you’re going through.

BE STRONG AND NEVER GIVE UP - that's my motto

Advertisement process

I created my advert with my buddy blog Minju.
We decide to take a picture by camera Canon 600D from online resource booking system for De Montford University's AV Loan Store.
The picture was made in the DMU cafeteria.

This is the first idea.
DMU student eating his iPhone

We took some idea from Unsplash and Pixabay.
We have been looking for delicious meals that are on the plate and rotten fruit.

                                                                            Salad

All pictures are edited in Photoshop and Pixlr.

We cut the icons from the smartphone which we found on Pixabay and we stuck them to the iPhone screen

Process: Pixlr-File-Open image -Adjustment-Curves
We made the picture lighter

We added what we need: logo, food, icons and hashtag

Research for advertisement

I started to look at other adverts with a similar theme to see how to create an image that will give a similar impact.

   Cell Phone

I have two  favourite adverts. The one with the needle in the arm and the second which I call "cell phones".
That's the best way to show everyone that we are addicted to!
"According to psychiatrist, Dr Gary Small's Nero imaging study, texting and heroin stimulate the brain in the same primitive part of the brain called the dopamine system.
I think that the mobile phone is like a drug, once you get hooked on to it, you can't let go.
I finally realised it - people are prisoners of their phones, that's why they are called cell phones. Cell phone addiction may not be an official psychological diagnosis, however, it functions very similarly to gambling addiction.
All the adverts want to show us how addicted we are.
YES, we all are addicted! Do you really want to spend all your time like on the advert? No, I don't want to and You?
Life will definitely be happy without smartphones.
In those days people used to play with friends in the playground. But nowadays they play multiplayer games on mobiles. This will give them happiness but not fulfilled happiness. People chat with unknown strangers in smartphones but they don't talk with their loved ones in real life, why? Because they don't know-how, which is very sad.
Time to break the habit and start enjoying real life, and not in reel life.

Advertisement Ideas

Initial sketch of idea

I choose campaign about people being addicted to mobile phones. It is very sad that the first thing we do in the morning and last thing at night is that we check our mobile phones.
Smart phones are more addictive than alcohol, food, drugs, coffee and effect peoples lives and mental health.
I want to do this campaign to try to make people aware how addictive smart phones are.
I create the advert illustrating the problem with a striking image that will grab people attention.

Sequential Imagery Research

Duane Michals
Source:
Paradise Regained 1968

From My initial research into Duane Michals I have found an explanation from Lauren Harris Photography

'The sequence tells a narrative story of a regression of evolution, transitioning from an artificial office environment to a natural area full of plants and nothing man made."

''Shot in black and white to further emphasis the stripping back of technology."

I like this image because I think people should go back to a simple way of living or being.
If i was to look at this frame by frame i think it works well as a story because they seem to relax through each frame as they get stripped of their clothing and identity. I think they are comfortable with each. Maybe the woman is in the background because first was Adam and then Eve.

You do feel that you are in the room with the couple as it is set at eye level and I would like to do this myself in my own Sequential story, as i think it draws the viewer into the image and what the photographer is trying to show.

My friend recommended me to watch a film called "La jetee" which is a film constructed almost entirely from still photos. It is 28 minutes long and shot in black and white.
This is interesting because it is presented in a movie form instead of the poster layout form like Paradise Regained from Duane Michals. It would be an idea to produce a short film using the sequential photograph method for a future project.

The power of coffee!

THE POWER OF COFFEE!

Good Morning! Time to wake up! Low energy and feeling tired? Start your day with a cup of coffee. Warm up your heart and soul, put a smile on your face and have a lovely day :)

This is my Sequential Image. As you can see its all about coffee.I took a picture of my friend. As you look at the first frame, he is tired, sleepy and without energy. The next three frames show the story of him deciding to drink the coffee, finishing with him looking alert and awake.

After researching Duane Michals I took inspiration from his Paradise Regained to take the image at eye level. In my sequential imagery i want the viewer to feel as if they are sat opposite him. Looking at my images I think I have achieved this.

REBIRTH

This is the story about girl who wants to change her life. As you can see, she was hiding under her clothes. Once she arrived at University she took off her coat and threw it away. The coat transformed in to an old dead stone like her old life.

Techniques

Phone: IPHONE 7
using camera on normal photo settings.
Changed images to jpegs, so i can edit.

  1. Open the “Settings” app on the iPhone and go to “Camera”
  2. Choose “Formats” and select “Most Compatible” to shoot photos in JPEG format on iPhone camera.
  3. Exit out of Settings
Pixlr
Using drive to upload images.
edit select all- edit copy- edit paste.
edit- free transform- shift and use corner point to resize.

I repeated this process for every image in my sequential story.
Reflection
From this process i have learnt how to use Pixlr. This is a programme that I have never used before. This was a learning curve for myself as I've never used a programme like Pixlr before.I would like to continue to learn more editorial skills. To further this i will look into Photoshop basic skills.I could do this by researching online for self tutorials.
If i was to change anything about my current work, i would want to make the images sit in line better, as well as them having equal spaces.

Welcome to my blog!

My name is Wanda Sienko. I come from Poland but I am living in UK.
I am a DMU student and I am studying Contour Fashion. I choice the course because I love underwear which is soft and natural fit. I would like to move away from lingerie that is rigid and controls the form with underwiring and padding.
I am looking to use recycling materials to do my own underwear in the future. This is because I would like to give fabric a second life.

The company that inspires me to start the course is Dollhouse Lingerie.

Based in Krakow and 100% handmade.

Image 2 source:Dollhouse Lingerie black set

This is my favourite style. It's cute, soft, feminine, very simple and elegant designs but also with that sexy touch. Such a small label but it has that personal feel. I couldn't find anything better for my self till i found OYSHO - sister brand of ZARA. Owned by Spanish conglomerate INDITEX. The collections are carefully selected to offer comfortable, quality items which are stylish and fashionable.

I would love to start to make the best underwear designed by myself.
I think it is important to use beautiful, natural fabrics, sustainable and recycled fabrics which shows the natural forms of the female figure. These natural and recycled materials will help to keep the world a beautiful place.
